How does Winolip 180 work?

Winolip 180 works by blocking an enzyme (enzyme adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase) that is required to make “bad” cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein) in the liver, which results in lower levels of "bad" cholesterol.

Pharmacology

Bempedoic Acid inhibits adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase (ACL), an enzyme in the cholesterol synthesis pathway upstream of HMG-CoA reductase. Inhibition of ACL in the liver decreases cholesterol synthesis, upregulates LDL receptors, and lowers LDL-C levels in the blood.

Dosage & Administration of Winolip 180

Administer 180 mg orally once daily, with or without food.

Take Winolip 180 with food or between meals or as advised by the doctor. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew or break it.

Interaction

• Simvastatin: Avoid use with doses greater than 20 mg.
• Pravastatin: Avoid use with doses greater than 40 mg.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Monitor serum uric acid periodically due to potential hyperuricemia.
• Tendon rupture has occurred; discontinue if signs appear. Avoid in patients with a history of tendon disorders.
